Willie Mae Taylor Harbin was born on September 5, 1921 in the precinct called Honea, Montgomery County, TX. Willie Mae Taylor Harbin spent her later years living very close to her birthplace in her parents’ home on McCaleb Rd. Montgomery County, TX. She and her late husband, Herbert Harbin, Sr. had built a home next door to her mother, Mrs. Emma Smith Taylor, but she had moved into the older home so her son, Clifford Harbin, could live next to her in her later years. Willie Mae or Billie, graduated from Montgomery High School in 1939 where she met her future husband. They married on Nov. 6, 1945 after he returned from World War II. They lived in Houston for almost 30 years then retired to the Conroe/Montgomery area to be near her aging mother. Billie and Herbert then joined the Honea Baptist Church, a church her parents helped to charter. Billie worked for various freight lines during her career including Red Arrow, Roadway and Central Freight in Houston and Conroe retiring at age 80! She is survived by her daughter Crystal Harbin Miller and husband Don and son Clifford Harbin. Grandchildren include: Donelle Miller Beal and husband Dennis; Jordan Miller and wife Jessica; Jacob Harbin and wife Aaron and youngest granddaughter Elaine Harbin. Great-grandchildren: Ellie and Margaret Beal and youngest great-grandson James Miller. She passed away August 4, 2012 and she will be laid to rest next to her husband and son Herb Harbin, Jr. at Jacob Montgomery Shannon cemetery in Dobbin, TX. Visitation will held Tuesday Aug. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home at 1801 E. White Oak Terrace Conroe, TX 77304 and the funeral service will be held Wednesday Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. in the Metcalf chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen cemetery in Dobbin, TX.
