Ann is survived by her loving husband Buddy of 70 years, her daughter Nancy Dwyer (David Bevis) of Nashville, TN, Debbie Masciale (Jim) of Gainesville, FL, and son Bill (Lolita) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Ann adored her grandchildren Drew and Patrick Bevis, Jimmy Masciale, Christine Simmons, CJ Masciale and Katie Masciale, Micaela Hendershot and Shannon Dwyer, and her two great-granddaughters Makenzie and Livia Simmons.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Mary Gibbons Dooley and George Dooley; her brothers Jack and George Dooley, and sisters Mary Jane Sheehan, Joan Rizzolo, and Betty Wojtowicz. Surviving are her brother Bob Dooley and sisters Peggy Greeley and Ellen Duffy, dearest family friend Daniel Sanchez and many nieces and nephews.
Ann grew up in Linden, NJ one of nine children. She graduated from Kean University and later earned her master’s degree from Nova University. She loved math and spent her career as a math teacher at several Broward County middle schools.
Ann was fiercely independent and known for her generosity and kindness to many. She was a St. Vincent de Paul board member and store volunteer, a keeper of church records, a Eucharistic minister, a visitor and helpmate to the elderly, and an adult literacy tutor.
She could bake a mean pie and you were lucky to be a recipient of her Christmas cookies. There was always room for one more at her holiday tables, and she made hosting 30+ people look easy.
Ann loved the beach and our family spent many wonderful weeks each summer at Ortley Beach and St. Augustine. She and Buddy also made great memories on their numerous travels to Europe. She enjoyed reading historical novels, and jigsaw and crossword puzzles were a favorite form of entertainment.
Buddy had the good sense to marry Ann in 1954. Through their 70 years together she loved our father fiercely and modeled for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews what a strong and loving wife and mother looked like. She was a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, and always a cheerleader for the smallest of our accomplishments.
Above all, Ann was a woman of deep faith, and our faith teaches us that we will be together again. Until that time, we will hold Ann’s memory in our hearts forever.
