Fredna Rogers Wood, 75 of Coral Springs, passed away peacefully at her home and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on April 24, 2018, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. The daughter of the late Dr. Hayden and Fredna Rogers, she is survived by her son, Rodney H. Wood, Jr. of Weston, and brother, Thomas Hayden Rogers, Jr. of Athens, Ga. A resident of Coral Springs since 1972, Fredna was a teacher at Coral Springs Elementary up until her retirement in 2009, and was once named the school’s Teacher of the Year. Teaching was her passion, as her mother before her, and the future success of all her students filled her with pride. Born in Opelika, Ala., and a graduate of the University of Georgia, Fredna had a love for her alma mater, where her father was an agronomy professor and later assistant dean of the graduate school, and her two rescue cocker spaniels, Prime Time and Poppy. She enjoyed shopping for and collecting antique furniture, participating in various arts and crafts, completing her word search puzzles and reading the latest Danielle Steel novel. Her unparalleled generosity and unwavering selflessness made her who she was and will never be forgotten. Fredna was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Coral Springs, which later became Church By The Glades, where she enjoyed its traditional Sunday morning service. A viewing will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, followed by a service at 5:00 p.m. at Kraeer Funeral Home, located at 1655 North University Drive, Coral Springs. Fredna will be interned with her family at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
