As children, we can't comprehend or fully understand the real meaning of a grandmother's love. How smart she is, how much patience she has, or how much guidance she gives us by her example of love and affection and by her helpful caring ways. Years go by before we truly know the depth of her concern and the love in her protectiveness. But as we get older we do finally understand and we can look back and see through her eyes and her heart, her unconditional love, devotion, and family loyalty. It's these and many other things that make us realize how lucky we have been for so many years to have had this amazing woman - our grandmother - as the centered root of strength and love in our life. My Grammie was and will always be some of the happiest memories I have to hold to from my childhood. From our walks around town to run errands, to ice cream sundaes at Newport creamery, and (what I always looked forward to) endless games of rummy! She was ruthless, but she would always let me win! And of course who can forget her signature "hoodsie cups" and "gingerale", which she would always stir the carbonation out of so I wouldn't get and upset stomach. But that was her,  always looking out for us kids, protecting us from harm and loving us until her dying breath. She always had a smile on her face and honestly, never once did she have a negative bone in her body. You could see the sunshine and love in her eyes. For the life of me, I can not remember her in a moment of anger or sadness. My memories will always make me smile, as I sit and think of being in her apartment, and how much it felt like "home".  Although I am incredibly sad, but lucky to have said goodbye, I know that she lives on in a better place. She is probably starting her next life now, where she will soon be touching the hearts of more. My only hope is that one day we will meet again. And I know this, as much as she loved us all, and with every bit of her heart we all share, this will happen. And although in our next lives , we may not know her or who she was to us, there will be something there for us and for her. It will rush though us, with no clue of what it is or its meaning, but a feeling of pure love.
To conclude, Gloria "Grammie", will never be forgotten. Her laughs, her love, her smiles will always be apart of us. I know when we dream of her, that she is out there somewhere dreaming of us too. I am 7 again, walking with her right now, down the street and holding her hand, as I look at her and smile with love....Forever Gavin

Leigh-ann and the rest of my florida family I was sad to hear of nane's passing. I hope you are all handeling things well and being good to yourselves give each other a hug for me.

My Grammie was a loving, kind and wonderful woman. She was my person when my Mom passed away. She had been ill for a long time and left us before her passing but a piece of her was forever there in her beautiful blue eyes. I love you Grammie. Always.
