

Monsignor James Bernard Reynolds

Monsignor James B Reynolds died and ascended to his heavenly home on February 28th, 2022 at the age of 97 surrounded by his family in Laguna Niguel, California.
Monsignor Reynolds is survived by his 9 loving nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews residing in California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Washington D.C, Indiana and Ohio. Monsignor is preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen and Josephine and his parents James and Kathleen Reynolds.
Monsignor was born on January 18th, 1925, in Brooklyn New York to his Irish immigrant parents, James and Kathleen Reynolds. In 1946, he entered the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington, Long Island, New York. On June 3rd, 1950, Monsignor was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn and worked in the Brooklyn Diocese for 16yrs. During that time, Monsignor obtained his Master’s degrees in Psychological Counseling and Religious Education. In 1966 Monsignor moved to Florida and was welcomed into the Archdiocese of Miami by Archbishop Coleman Carroll. After serving as a priest in several Miami parishes, Monsignor Reynolds became pastor of Saint Henry Catholic Church in Pompano Beach where he spent 25 of his 72 years in the priesthood. On October 26th, 1997 in recognition of his services to God, Most Reverend John C. Favalora conferred on Monsignor Reynolds the title of Reverend Monsignor.
In 1984, with the approval of Archbishop Emeritus Edward A. McCarthy, and the help of many friends, volunteers and contributors, Monsignor Reynolds built a magnificent parish hall named Henry’s Hideaway. Henry’s Hideaway was a 987 private member club that booked over 28 big band acts per year and became known as a place where men and women of all faiths socialized, and enjoyed fellowship.
A funeral for Monsignor Reynolds is scheduled for Friday, March 11th, 2022 at St. Henry Catholic Church on 1500 S. Andrew Avenue, Pompano Beach Florida. There will be a viewing at St. Henry’s from 9:30am-10:20am with a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. A private family ceremony of internment will immediately follow the Mass.
