Joan Ruberto

Joan is survived by her children; Gwen Marie Ruberto, Gina Harrigan, Gabriel Ruberto, Nelson Bruce & Patrick Harrigan. daughter in-law Maria Riccardelli. Also, her in-laws; Virginia Guardino, Pasquale & Mary Ruberto, James & Way Kelly. Joan was predeceased by: Marie Emma and Albert Berube, brothers Albert jr. Robert, Hubert Berube and sister Emma Brecker.

Joan was born on July 25th, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to Albert & Marie Emma . She graduated from Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, New York in 198010 with an Associates degree.In 1997 Joan earned her Bachelor of Science from State University of New York Empire State College. After graduating Joan served as a paraprofessional at PS 124 educating young minds for over twenty years. Joan married Gabriel A. Ruberto , owner of P. Ruberto & Son private sanitation in 1962 .

Over 9 years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. Her children remember her as a kind, caring, loving mother, who encouraged them to reach their goals.

Joan was a fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Joan was accomplished at overcoming obstacles and often a giving person. She was a dedicated individual who loved to assist others and who was often focused on her neighborhood needs and provided many with the opportunity to find employment with the City of New York. She was an active and dedicated member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church and School, President of the Seeley St. Block Association and a recipient of many awards and recognized for her many accomplishments for her service to the neighborhood of Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn.

A vigil service is scheduled for June 29th at 6:30PM at Kraeer Funeral Home in Coral Springs, FL. Visitation will be held from 3 until the time of the Vigil Service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joan’s life.
