Luis is survived by his parents, Capitan Luis Eduardo Cristancho Cadena and Maria Olaya Mendoza de Cristancho; his son Camilo Andres Cristancho; his sister Elizabeth Cristancho Mendoza; his brother Javier Enrique Cristancho Mendoza; his niece Maria Alejandra Solano Cristancho; his nephews Kian Cristancho, Sebastian Cristancho and Carlos Eduardo Solano Cristancho; his sister-in-law Roslyn Cristancho, and brother-in-law Carlos Hernan Solano.
Luis was born on May 24th, 1961 in Barranquilla, Colombia. He graduated in Bogota, Colombia from Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje, S.E.N.A. with a degree in Hospitality Management. After moving to Bucaramanga, Luis began working for Hotel Ruitoque, family business as Owner/General Manager. In 1982, his only son Camilo Andres Cristancho Camargo was born from his first marriage.
Luis was accomplished at music and often performed the guitar and bass. He was a passionate individual who loved music – boleros in particular, and Caribbean music such as vallenato y son Cubano - and who was affectionate and devoted about his job at La Bamba Restaurant Plantation for more than 8 years, and he was always committed and willing to go above and beyond at the workplace where his coworkers and bosses that became his family. He was an active and dedicated member of the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland and was part of the choir playing the bass.
A funeral is scheduled for 9:30 am to 1 pm at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Coral Springs, FL with a mass service to follow at 2 pm at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland. Father Freddy will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Luis’s life. The family would like to thank everyone at La Bamba Restaurant, for their unconditional love and support; the SWAN team at TrustBridge Hospice and Palliative Care for their exceptional service in his last and most difficult days; all the friends at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland for welcoming him in the community and giving him company in his spiritual journey; and finally, to all his friends for being there for him when he most needed it.
