Mary was born August 3, 1954 in Lima New York to Carl and Ursula Rotondo. Mary eared her “Bachelor of science” degree from Barry University in May of 2004
Mary worked at Southern Bell, BellSouth and AT&T for over 40 years before retiring.
On September 9th 1989 Mary married to Andy Wunder and spent the next 33 years together.
Mary’s had many passions, Veterans, Abandon dogs and Charity.
Mary loved vets, If anytime we were out and she saw a Vet Mary would always go up to them and thank them for their service. Mary Volunteered at “American Moms for Soldiers” for many years, packing boxes for our soldiers, always adding a little something to try to put a smile on their face when they would open the box.
Mary also volunteered for “Florida Humane Society in Pompano“ for many years. Her love for dogs was a calling.
We would try to go out to Utah once a year for a week to Volunteer at “Best Friends Animal sanctuary” to help take care of the dogs, walk them, feed them and clean. Mary looked forward going back every year.
Mary always had a soft spot for dogs that were abandon, too old or to sick that people couldn’t take care of any longer. Mary had adopted 5 of these dogs through the years, every dog was loved and had a great life with her.
Another passion of Mary’s was her Church Family at “Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church” in Deerfield. Mary was in the Mercy club which she helped with the Breakfasts, Thanksgiving and Christmas events. Her church Family meant so much to her and has been great during this difficult time,
Mary Found “Our lady Of Mercy” by of “of course” a dog. There was a dog in the shelter by the name of Gigi, which was one Mary’s favorites. When Mary found out the dog was being adopted, she had to find out who? Well it was a priest, Father Whittaker. Father said to Mary you can come visit Gigi anytime. So that Sunday we went to church and have been a member ever since.
Mary has a big family, Aunts, Uncles and cousins that would take up a whole page to list. When Mary and I got married, Mary said you’re going to meet my some of my cousins in New York. I had no idea how big her family was, but from the first day I have always been treated like one of the family and still am. I can’t thank them enough for all they have done.
When Mary was diagnosed with cancer some 13 years ago, I’ll never forget her first words “Oh My” from that point on she never looked back, Mary was and is the strongest person I have EVER known. Cancer did not define Mary, she lived her life to the fullest, and the cancer was not going to prevent her from being Mary!
The last couple of years were tough on Mary, and these final couple of weeks were the cruelest. But she NEVER gave up the fight. She was able to see her girlfriends and was also able to see her dog before the Lord called her home to help with all the pets in Heaven.
Mary leaves behind her brother Dan and his wife Pat, all of the many Aunts, uncles and cousins, the countless dogs that she helped fine homes for. Her neighbors, who I can’t thank enough. Her husband Andy, who was the luckiest man in the world to have been a part of her life for 33 years.
Wov you Hon, Till I see you again!
