

Regina was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to the late Ernest Benjamin (Cal) and Victoria Theresa (Pietraska) Nero on October 9, 1942. Regina was the sister of the late Ernest W. (Cal) Nero, Jr. and sister-in- law of the late Virginia Nero (Coleman). She married the late Joseph Conti, Jr., on October 3, 1964. Regina was the sister-in-law of the late Domenic, John, and Anna Conti. She later married Dale Thomas Carper on July 7, 1991. However, Regina was reunited with Joseph Conti, Jr. in 2005 until his passing on December 4, 2010.
Regina is survived by her loving daughter, Gina Maria Conti, nephew, Richard Nero, niece, Linda A. Nuzzo, niece/God-daughter, Susanne Travisono, nephew, Jeffrey Nero, niece, Stephanie Mosca, niece, Pennie A. Nero, niece, Maria Cardona, niece, Linda Stanelun, niece, Patty Brouillard, and friends/the Carper family, Dale, Don, Alan, Lon, and Anika.
Regina was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Regina earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Barrington College. Regina was an opera singer performing with the Rhode Island Opera Company, and was known as a quadruple threat (dance, act, sing, play instruments) performing in numerous musical comedies and with bands at many venues in Rhode Island and Florida. In addition, Regina became a Broward County, Florida Music Teacher, also certified K- 8th grade education, employed full-time for many years at such schools as Castle Hill Elementary, and Coral Springs Elementary. While employed as a music teacher at Coral Springs Elementary, Regina also directed a children’s chorus that was invited to perform at various outside venues in Broward County and received many accolades for these performances. Regina was a choir director for a season at All Saints Episcopal Church and a music director at the Margate Children’s Theater. Additionally, Regina taught voice and piano lessons to students of all ages from elementary school to adults.
After suffering a serious injury, with much hard-work, prayer and determination, Regina rebounded and recertified teaching Pre-K from 2000 -2003 at Fort Lauderdale Christian Reformed Church & Preschool/ renamed God’s Little Creations, and teaching music and elementary education (K-8) in the Broward County school system in 2003 until her retirement.
As a child, Regina enjoyed ice skating and horseback riding. As an adult, Regina enjoyed volunteering at church, visiting museums, performing in plays with her daughter, going to concerts, attending dance & Broadway performances with her friends and daughter, taking care of & walks with the family pets, sitting by the pool, reading, journaling, artwork/crafts, Bingo/other games, and trying new restaurants with her daughter and friends.
Throughout her life, Regina demonstrated tremendous strength and her deep faith in Christ Jesus as she has endured so many difficult challenges. She was never concerned about her own needs but for, the needs of others. Regina was always there to lend a helping hand, lift up a prayer and/or provide a word of encouragement.
The family would like to thank Margarite, Claudette, Mattee, Lisa, Stephanie and Sandra of Sunflower Senior Living for all the love and support provided since August 2023 and to Broward Health, Coral Springs nurses, Yesenia, Elizabeth and Amanda for the compassionate care provided May 13-19, 2025.
Visitation will begin on Monday, 6/2/2025, 4-8 PM, EST at Kraeer Funeral Home (1655 N. University Drive, Dr., Coral Springs, FL, 33071) and continue on 6/3/2025, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, EST, Church by the Glades (CBG- 400 Lakeview Dr., Coral Springs, FL, 33071 - Old Worship Center)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, EST on Tuesday, 6/3/2025 at Church by the Glades (CBG - 400 Lakeview Dr., Coral Springs, FL, 33071 - Old Worship Center) with the Pastor Roy of (CBG).
