Sandra Allison Sooklal-Balfour

Born on November 7, 1948 in Trinidad, West Indies, she was the daughter of the late Phyllis Sooklal and the late Sirju Sooklal. Sandra is survived by her daughters, Rian Balfour Marcus and Patrice Sooklal-Balfour; grandsons, Jaden Balfour and Derek Balfour Sobrasky; granddaughter, Sydney Marcus; brother, Godfrey Sooklal; nephew, Marc Sooklal; and nieces, Inger Gazonas and Kelly Sooklal.

Along with her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Balfour, and her sister Lynette Sooklal.

Sandra will lovingly be remembered as our mother, nana, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, cousin of Sooklal’s, Samaroo’s, Culpepper’s, Maillard’s and Mitchell’s, and friend to everyone she touched.

Sandra graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Brooklyn Jewish Hospital School of Nursing with a Registered Nurse degree. She was a gifted and caring nurse for more than 40 years.

In addition to being the most knowledgeable and caring nurse to all, Sandra was a generous and devoted caregiver to family, friends and strangers. She often volunteered at Hospice by the Sea (Trustbridge) in Boca Raton and SOS Children’s Village in Coconut Creek. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Sandra was witty and loved dancing, traveling, and gardening, especially nurturing her orchids.

A visitation for Sandra will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1655 North University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A memorial service during the visitation will start at 4:00 PM.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1401 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. The family requests that guests arrive between 10:30 AM and 10:45 AM and be seated prior to services.

All are welcomed to attend the visitation and funeral mass in celebration of Sandra’s life. For out of town family and friends, the funeral mass will be live streamed at www.stelizabethannseton.org.

Following the funeral mass, a repast for family and friends will be held at Sandra’s house.

An inurnment will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
