Irene Conroy

CONROY, Irene T. – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Irene (Barkley) on July 22, 2015, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” “Bert” Conroy. She was originally from Berwick, then Cornwall, Toronto and Port Credit, returning to Cornwall in 2009. Predeceased by her parents Lewis and Mary (Lynch) Barkley. Irene will be missed by her nieces and nephews in the Cornwall area including Sheridan Marsolais, Veronica Lauzon (Wilfred), Don Conroy (Connie) and Dale Allaire (Ted) and their children and grandchildren. Family living in Florida include niece Mary Lou Wright and her son Joe O’Brien and their family. Other nieces and nephews include the Conways: Lana (Leo Lowe), Blain, Mervin (Hazel) and Holly in Ontario, and the Harrises: Doug (Marie), Ron and Ruth in B.C., and their families. All remember the woman that loved to play cards, dance, travel and above all be with people to share a story and a laugh. Irene was a sweet and gentle woman. She had a sharp mind and was always interested in family life, consistently remembering details about each family member. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartwood Nursing Home in Cornwall who treated Irene with kindness, dignity and respect. The family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, East Branch, 614 First Street East (613.932.8482) on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 7 - 9 p.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St Mary’s Church in Williamstown, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery and a luncheon in the Parish Hall.

Following Irene’s wishes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the ALS Society of Canada.
