Charles attended Hammond High School and worked at Penske Truck Leasing company as an Auto and Diesel Mechanic until his retirement. Charles was truly one of a kind. His heart was as big as his smile, and he always wore it on his sleeve. He was a giant grizzly bear when needed and more lovable than the softest teddy bear most times. He was the first to show up and lend a helping hand to anyone in need no matter what, when, or where. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, watching wrestling, cooking shows, racing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Charles’ impact reached countless people. There are so many stories of lives he positively touched. His home was always open to anyone for any reason, from a causal conversation to life changing decisions. He would be there to listen or offer his advice. Some of these conversations led to great success in many people’s lives. His family was everything to him. He was a role model for his children, but didn’t stop there. He welcomed anyone who was in need.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Findley Harris; and his sister, Theresa Zither.
