

Donald was born February 24, 1953 in Hammond to Bud and Gaynell (Satterfield) Parker. His mother survives and his father preceded him in death. Also preceding in death are his brother James Parker and sister Kimberly Hendrickson.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Sandy (Schiessle) Parker; sons, Jacob (Karen) Parker, Doug (Becca) Parker, Scott (Candice) Parker, Jason Parker, and Chad Parker; three loving grandchildren; and sisters, Debra (Joe) Scheive and Pam (Dennis) Rose.
Don was raised in Sauk Village, Illinois and graduated from Bloom Trail High School. After graduating High School he honorably served in the United States Marine Corp. After serving his country, he began his career in Law Enforcement, faithfully serving as Chief of Police for the Schererville, and Dyer Police Departments, he also served for the Lake County Sherriff Department. Don selflessly volunteered for various disaster relief teams, Ground Zero in Manhattan and Hurricane Katrina. He remained very active in the Calumet Region Marine Corp. Reserve Detachment, which organizes the annual Lake County region Toys for Tots Drive. Don was a member of the Griffith Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Don always looked forward to time spent fishing with his five boys. He was a well respected and genuine friend to many, and will be missed by all who love him.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of his memorial service at 5:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens (8178 Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375).
