Debra Ann O'Quinn

Debra (Debbie) Ann O'Quinn (nee Parker), age 68, of Valparaiso, IN was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend who passed this world on July 21, 2023 after a long illness. Her caring husband of 28 years, William (Gerry) O'Quinn, preceded her in death.

Debbie was born on March 27, 1955 in Hammond, IN to the late Gathel (Dave) L. and Daunita (Donnie) L. Parker (nee Cox). She graduated from Gavit High School in 1973 and became a mother to her adored son, Jasen Simmons.

She was surrounded in life by her late grandparents, Sandford and Martha Parker, and Arnold and Betty Cox.

Debbie worked for many years in the jewelry department at Montgomery Wards, which allowed her to fulfill her passion for "pretty things." She liked to play cards, had a flair for decoration and loved hunting for antiques.

She is survived by her son, Jasen Simmons (Valparaiso, IN); brothers, Steve (Pat) Parker (Hammond, IN) and Jeffrey Parker (Plymouth, IN); grandson, Nate Simmons; former spouse, Douglas Simmons; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Graveside Committal Service to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
