He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbridge & Ruby Poole (Whitledge); his wife, Juana Poole; his son, Loren R. Poole; and his brothers, Ronald & Gary Poole.
He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Rotkvich (Scott); his three grandchildren, Gianna & Zack Rotkvich & Skye Poole; and his sister, Gayle.
Don served in the U.S Army as a Private First Class and was honorably discharged in 1961. He had an amazing work ethic, which he developed as a young boy working on his family’s and neighbors’ farms. As a child, he learned and loved to hunt and fish, which he continued to enjoy throughout his adult life.
After his military service, he was hired at Inland Steel, East Chicago, IN, where he retired after 43 years of service. He also supplemented his income with his own carpet cleaning business, as a landlord for several of his income properties and as a "Jack of All Trades!"
As busy as Don’s life could get, he never said no to a family member or a friend in need. No job was too big or too small when it came to him helping people, as many of us can attest to. His generosity, wisdom and kindness were second to none.
He will be deeply missed, mostly by his remaining family & friends.
