
Douglas Michael White, 46, of St. John, passed away on April 1, 2013 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital while embraced by his family after a long, hard fight against cancer. He was surrounded by love. Doug was born on December 15, 1966 in Oak Lawn, IL. He was the son of Robert White and late Diane Nelson. Doug was a graduate of Rich South High School in Matteson, IL and attended The American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. He was active in TeamFight, LLC. Doug was an adamant fan of the Black Hawks, White Sox, Bears and Notre Dame. He would play any sport but particularly enjoyed golf, bags, hockey, and football. Doug blessed everyone with his incredible sense of humor and his "fight to survive" attitude. Even cancer could not take away his passion for life, peace, love, and hope. Doug is survived by his father, Robert White; sister, Cathy White-Heinberg; son, Vince Buttimer; nieces: Alexandria and Courtney Heinberg; nephew, Dillon Heinberg; brother-in-law Robert Heinberg Jr.; step-father, Ken Nelson; step-mother, Nancy White; step-siblings: Jennifer Fontaine (husband Jay), Denise Dudy (husband Mark), and Skip Palka (wife Niki); and his beloved golden retriever, Murphy Brown. Preceded in death by his mother, Diane Nelson. Doug's services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN).
