

Born to Johnnie Mae and William on December 31, 1947, in Russell County, AL, Ethel was predeceased by both of her parents. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, joining Benevolent Grave Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsview, AL. Ethel later moved to Gary, IN, where she graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School in 1965. In 1971, she met and married William Hall and, together, they had two sons.
Ethel dedicated 24 years to her career at Answering System Inc. and Western & Southern Life Insurance before pursuing her passion for cooking by opening Bill's Fish and Seafood in 1995. She was an active member of New Community Church under the leadership of Reverend Grover and Reverend Frazier, serving as a member of the senior choir. After the closure of St. Mary's Church in Hammond, she joined St. John Bosco Catholic Church.
Ethel leaves behind her beloved husband of 54 years, William Hall; her three sons, Timothy (Minda) Session of Casa Grande, AZ, Aaron Hall of Panama City, FL, and Jayell (Jessica) Hall of Hammond, IN; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Cobb (Sade) of Chicago, IL, Destine Abernathy of Hammond, IN, Jayell Hall of Hammond, IN, Mariah Hall of Hammond, and Christopher Rogers of Japan IN; as well as four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousin, Brenda Moore of East Chicago, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ethel was deeply devoted to her faith and her family, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
A Visitation to honor Ethel will be held on August 7, 2024, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. The Visitation is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM until the time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
