Frances A. Dorris (Beisal), was born December 12, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Frederick H. and Helga Elizabeth (Thiman) Beisal. She graduated from George Rogers Clark High School, class of 1945. She worked at NIPSCO where she met her husband Darrell. On October 9, 1948, they were married in Hammond, IN, where they spent 43 years together prior to his passing in 1992.
Frances is survived by her son, Tom; daughter, Bev (Rick); four grandchildren, Eric, Shelly, Jennifer (Tim), Jonathan; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kara, Kailey, Skarlette, Kilian, and Cassidy.
She is welcomed into everlasting life by her beloved husband, Darrell T. Dorris; parents, Frederick and Helga Beisal; her siblings, Toots, Bud, Doris, Harry; and her great-granddaughter Allisyn.
Things that made Frances smile were her children, grandchildren, beautiful sunsets, and snow. Her proudest moments were her children's weddings and graduations. She attended the South Side Christian Church. She belonged to The Loyal Ruth Group and to the Senior Saints. She worked for many years as a cashier at Burger's Supermarket. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, water color painting, and needlepoint. Her family is going to miss how sassy she was, even up to her final days. There is no doubt in their minds where they all got their stubbornness from. She was strong from a young age but, most of all, they will miss seeing the love she had for her family that was shown on her face and in the little things she said or did. Frances was the emoji and gif queen while texting, and if you have ever been on the receiving end of one of her texts, you understand. If anyone has a sticker obsession, Frances had you beat. Again, if you were on the receiving end of one of her packages or letters, you understand.
A casual celebration of life for Frances will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 1:00PM at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307. Chaplain Grant Ray will be officiating the graveside service. Family and friends are welcomed to gather from 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Frances was a simple woman, who lived a simple life, and whose final wishes were to have a simple service.
