Gretta will be remembered as an active member of the First Christian Church in Indiana Harbor, the South Side Christian Church in Munster, IN, and the Jenison Christian Church in Jenison, MI. She grew up as a preacher's daughter and loved serving the Lord. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends, family gatherings best, and preparing meals and desserts. She is well known for "grandma's favorite jelly." Her favorite pastime is considered to be her love of playing cards while eating ice-cream and cookies. She had quite the personality which could light up any room.
She was a mother to her children; Jeanette (Gordon) Mehaffey, David (Susan) Marks, Doris (late James) Hauer, Sandra (Roger) Kelley; and grandmother, great + great-great to 86 grandchildren and many others who considered her grandma. They will miss her terribly.
Gretta is reunited with her husband, Hackney E. Marks, who passed away in 1984; sister, Doris Wiersbe and brother, Harold Boldon.
A public visitation for Gretta will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307. A funeral service to honor her will begin at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Phil Smith officiating. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
