James O. "Jimbo" Spitzer, age 52, of Hobart, IN, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital Southlake, January 30, 2015, after a courageous battle, with his loving family at his side. Jim was born March 21, 1962 in Hammond, IN, to the late James and Dorothy (Fout) Spitzer. He is survived by his sister Susan Spitzer; stepmother Ginny Spitzer; nieces and nephew: Jessica, Danielle, and Danny; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jimbo was a graduate of Thornton Fractional North, where he was a member of the wrestling and football team. He loved being outdoors and fishing, especially with his father when they would travel to the upper peninsula in Michigan. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave., Schererville, IN 46375) with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating.
