Jane Louise Hicks Haney

Jane L. Haney, age 80, of Hampton Virginia, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2016 with her loving family at her side. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 49 years, Harold Haney.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Basheba Joanne (Larry) Brew and Carmel (Kenny) McLemore; grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Jennifer, Gabriella, Jeremiah, and Micah; and 4 great grandchildren.

Jane has resided in Hampton Virginia for the past 10 years where she enjoyed the fellowship of Liberty Baptist Church. Jane was a faithful member of Hoffman Street Baptist Church, in Hammond, where she shared her talents of singing in the choir and playing piano for Sunday school classes. Within her church she also volunteered in the Daycare and visiting those home-bound. In her younger years, she and her friends founded a gospel quartet, singing for local gospel lovers, and even sang their songs on the radio. She and her husband enjoyed making and maintaining new friendships over the CB radio, her handle was “Snowflake”.

Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm, with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. To leave online condolences, please visit www.chapellawnfunerals.com
