

Janice Hansen, 74, of Highland, IN, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2014 with her loving husband of 55 years and family at her side. Janice was born on August 29, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Ralph and Argie (DeForest) Tebben. On August 31, 1958, she married Raymond Hansen, who survives. Survivors also include her children: Myron (Marcia) Hansen of San Antonio, TX and Brenda (John) Pollalis of Schererville, IN; grandchildren, Sophia, William, and Raymond Pollalis; and sisters, Viola Greene of South Sioux City, NE, and Phyllis (Roy) Krabbenhoft of Apple Valley, MN; as well as her unofficial daughter, Donna Shoultz. She was a fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Meier. Janice was a graduate of Purdue Calumet, and a member of Gloria Dei (Glory To God) Lutheran Church. Jan experienced many careers; she was a teacher and also worked as a private detective, then received her auctioneer’s license in 1983. She was a member of the National and Indiana Auctioneer’s Associations. She enjoyed crocheting and refinishing furniture. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In retirement she and her husband traveled across the states in their RV. Their favorite vacation spot was in her hometown of South Sioux City, Nebraska, camping on the Missouri River, visiting relatives, and roasting marshmallows. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kenneth Staib and Joyce Partyka officiating at the Gloria Dei (Glory to God) Lutheran Church, 3711 Ridge Road, Highland, IN 46322. Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN 46375. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Calumet Area
