Dear Jared,

I can not believe you are no longer with us. You have always been so sweet and kind. We will miss you and never forget you. You are gone way too soon from this life.  We love you so much and are so proud of the  life you have led and how you have impacted the lives of others. Rest in Heaven sweet boy. 

Sweet Jared,
I don't know where to start this is a nightmare. You can't be gone  I remember that snowy March evening 
when I got the call you were on your way like it was yesterday. I wanted so bad for you to wait the six more hours to be born so we'd have the same birthday. You were the most beautiful baby in the world. You always had the biggest smile on your face. I can still hear you ask, Is that called mine? When you seen something you wanted.  No one could of asked for a better nephew than you. This is a nightmare. I'll never forget that call when I heard you were taken from us way too soon. It was heartbreaking. Rest in Heaven with grandma 💙 until we all meet again sweet Jared.  I love you more than anything in this world! 💔

Where do I start. I remember really talking to you about history and reenacting when I first got into basic. You were the first and probably only guy I felt like I had stuff in common with and really the first friend I had in basic before the group we know now got together. Even when you were injured I’d always stop by and chat with you and you always seemed full of life even then. You kept my spirits up and everyone in the company as well. You were a hilarious dude and everyone always loved to see all your post and keep in contact even after we all parted ways after basic. You were a great friend to have and you will be missed. 

Jared, you were one of the first people I really connected with in basic training. When I first arrived, I felt out of place, but getting to know you made me realize I was exactly where I belonged. You and the few other close friends I made were the reason I survived it all and became a Soldier and an Infantryman. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. It's surreal to know that we had just spoken in our group chat just before you passed. I remember those nights where I felt alone, only to be reminded that I wasn't when the phone buzzed and I saw one of your memes in the chat. Thank you for everything. Rest easy. I'm proud to have called you a friend and a brother.

Jared, despite all the personal challenges you faced early on in basic training, you remained most optimistic and positive. You were also a great friend, especially at a time when we all needed each other. You inspired me to never give up and to keep on pushing. It was good to know there was someone like myself that I could relate to. The small handful of your closest battle buddies will never forget you. I’ll miss those silly conversations in our group chat, and to think we just talked to you only a day ago. See you again someday brother, rest easy. You’re in my prayers, and you will never be forgotten. 

I love you so very much Jared. My heart aches with the thought of not sharing anymore incredible adventures with him. I will forever cherish every memory from our short time as good friends. We laughed, we talked, we even argued at moments but I would trade anything to just have one more time to drive around together bickering over what music to listen to. Thank you for being my go to person since i was a freshman in highschool to now a freshman in college.  I still can’t wrap my head around this but I will never stop thinking of you as one of the greatest friends I have ever had. You meant more to me than you know. You’re in better hands now love. Until we see each other again.

Jared Scott James, Age 21 of Hobart, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 as a result of a motorcycle accident in Hobart, IN. 
He was born on March 11, 1998 in Munster, IN to his loving parents Thomas James and Judy Stewart.
Jared is described as the kindest soul and angel by his family and friends.  He loved life and worked very hard in everything that he applied himself to.  He will be missed by everyone who came to know him. 
He is survived by his doting mother, Judy Stewart; father, Thomas S. James; sister, Jessica Stewart and her fiancé, Brandon Dragon; nieces and nephews, Addison, Ava, and Levi Dragon; maternal grandfather, Carl Stewart; lots of loving Aunts and Uncles along with numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Margie Stewart and paternal grandparents Thomas and Elaine James.
Friends and family may call upon Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 2PM – 8PM.
His funeral service and celebration will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home located at 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN, 46307 on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 3PM.  Pastor Randy Harrison will be officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following the service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
