

JOHN T. WALTON, SR. PORTAGE, IN, age 85, of Portage, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2015 at his residence with his loving family at his side. John was born February 16, 1930 in Alabama, to the late Randolph and China Walton. Also preceding him in death are his wife, Clara (Kish) Walton; daughter, Linda Donohue; grandson, Clayton Spears; and sisters: Christine Goldsmith, Ole Mae Nodmark, Frances Campbell, and Lois Walton. Left to cherish his memory are his children: John Walton Jr., Ann Walton, and Brenda (Robert) Spears; grandchildren: Kara Phelps, Haley Phelps, Colby Phelps, Amy Donohue, Erica Donohue, Angela (Jerry) LeNeave, and Michael Spears; great grandchildren: Dainen, Angelisa, Sam, and Autumn; sister, Jean (Bill) Weaver; brothers: James Walton and Randolph Walton Jr. Mr. Walton retired after over thirty years of service with Coca Cola. He honorably served in the United States Army, serving in Okinawa, Japan. John was a dedicated and loyal Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He was an avid outdoorsman, biking long trails, and taking great pride in his yard. He also took great pride with his neighborhood; his extended family will also miss him dearly. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and dedicated family man. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave; Schererville, IN 46375).
