He has been residing in a nursing home since 2018 due to his Alzheimer’s. Lloyd was a lifelong area resident. Surviving to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife, Judy, of 61 years of marriage; his two sons, Lloyd, III (Barbara) of LaGrange, GA, and Tom of Jeffersonville, IN, formerly of Louisville, KY; his grandsons, Nathan, Steven and David; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd W. Pugh, Sr. in 1970; his mother, June Louise in 1980; his brother, Clinton in 1966; and his half-brother, William “Charlie” Westcott in 2019.
Lloyd was born on December 15, 1942 in East Chicago and was raised in Hammond and Dyer. He was a 1961 graduate of Dyer Central High School. On August 1, 1964, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Judy Loebach, and they resided in Hessville and Cedar Lake until 1985, when they moved to Dyer.
Lloyd was employed by Model Food Store during high school and thereafter, he was a diligent, dedicated and hard-working employee for 44.5 years at the Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, IL, where he retired from on March 1, 2007 as the #1 Leader in the Machine Repair Department.
He was a member of Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in St. John since 1995, a former member of Trinity Lutheran in Crown Point, Hope Lutheran in Cedar Lake, Grace Lutheran in Dyer and St. John Lutheran in Hammond.
Lloyd was a very loving, caring, supportive and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always loved being with his family, traveling with his wife and children; and especially looked forward to their amazing annual fishing trips to Canada from 1972 until 2011, as well as his adventures hunting deer and antelope in Buffalo, WY. He also thoroughly loved traveling through the “Great White North” of Canada and out West as he has always been a true “Cowboy at Heart.” He and his wife shared a great love for wildlife. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, boating, driving anywhere and everywhere, surfing the internet, watching car races and Western movies; John Wayne being his favorite western actor.
He will always be remembered and respected for his uncompromising values, integrity, strength of character, exemplary work ethic, punctuality, honesty, and high moral principles. He will always be an inspiration to his family and loved beyond words. Lloyd will truly be missed and cherished by all who loved him. We pray that he will forever feel the love we are sending him to where he waits for us in Heaven. May God keep him in His loving arms until we are reunited once again.
