Loretta M. Klar

Loretta was born October 7, 1935, to William and Gertrude (Kuiper) Scheeringa, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 6, 1967, Loretta married the love of her life, Harry Klar, and they shared 42 wonderful years together, until his passing in August, 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Grover) Redmon; her step-daughter, Cathy (Buster) Aaron; her step-son, Harry Klar; her cherished grandchildren, Alicia Redmon, and Zachary Redmon; and step-grandchildren, LaVonne Baum, Jeremy Klar, Shane Klar, David Aaron, Mike Aaron, and Lindsay Pollard. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Gerald (Carol) Scheeringa; sister-in-law, Betty (Bill) Scheeringa; sister-in-law, Donna Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dirk (JoAnn), Henry (Ruthie), Sidney (Sandy), Bill, Tony (Betty), Don (Barb) Scheeringa, and Marvin (Florence) Scheeringa; and her sister, Dorothy (Mitch) Ruitter.

Loretta was a remarkable woman, who always put others first and treasured her family. She loved sharing stories from her childhood on the farm, where she worked until the age of 87. A passionate gardener, she found joy in tending to her flowers and working in the greenhouse. In her spare time, Loretta enjoyed reading, coloring, and spending time with her beloved dog, Abby. She also took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and canning vegetables from the farm. Loretta was a devoted member of Suncrest Church in St. John, IN.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Mitch Wright at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Family and friends are invited to gather for Visitation on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
