 Obituario de Martha E. Harris
Martha E. Harris, age 84, of Hammond, IN went on to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Crown Point Christian Village. She was born on September 9, 1935 in Lumberport, WV to the late Leo DeWitt and Audra E. Stier. Many years later she relocated to the North West Indiana area and married Charles Harris Jr. Martha was a sweet person, fantastic mother, a wonderful grandma, easy going but firm in her word, fair, and strict with her kids, loved gospel and old country music, loved her dog Queenie, and little dogs in general. Martha really loved her coffee from McDonalds, chicken sandwiches, and broccoli. Her favorite color was blue, and she simply adored her grandkids, LOVED her family and friends. Family was everything to Martha, and they will miss her terribly. Prior to her illness, she hated cuss words and would let whoever know when they cussed. She collected porcelain dolls, clocks, pictures, blankets, and collecting John Wayne memorabilia. In her older years she was always in her rocking recliner watching Western TV or the Grand Ole Opry. She is survived by her five children: Charles (Melvie) Harris, James (Brenda) Harris, Ronald Harris and his significant other, Dorothy Choate, Donald (Penny) Harris, Joan Pope and her significant other, Tom Choate; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Martha is welcomed in to heaven by her husband Charles Harris Jr.; her parents, Leo DeWitt and Audra Stier, one grandchild, and her beloved dog, Queenie who passed over the Rainbow Bridge just several years ago. A time to gather with family and pay your respects will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1PM - 5PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home - 8178 Cline Ave. Crown Point, IN 46307. Please join the family in honoring her at a funeral service being held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 12PM with Pastor Orlando Soler, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In order to maximize the safety of our community, masks will be required in the funeral home.
