Mary Ellen Alexander

Mary Ellen Alexander age 83, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She is survived by her brother, Gerald (Joyce) Alexander; great niece and special caregiver, Stephanie (William) Knight; 13 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Caroline.

Preceded in death by brothers, Jerome, George (late Beulah) and Walter (late Dorothy) Alexander and sisters, Dixie (late Hans) Helton and twin sister, Shirley (Ray) McCabe; nephews, Buddy Helton, Butch Helton and David Alexander and her special friends, Jeri Smedley, Frances Smedley and Gloria Erb.

Mary was born July 16, 1935 in Hammond, IN to the late Thomas Euell and Eva Marie Alexander and was a 1956 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. She retired from N.I.S.E.C. with over 15 years of service. Mary also worked for Standard Railway and as a custodian at Riverside Community Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star Griffith Post 66 for over 60 years. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed breakfast with her friends and loved all animals. Although Mary did not have any children of her own she opened her heart and home to all she loved.

Mary was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched.
