Our Son Our Hero
Matthew "Sonshine-Peanut" Galvan passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends after a long 10 year battle with childhood Cancer. Matthew was an amazing loving person and had a kind gentle soul. He had a certain wisdom about himself as so many would say.
His life dream was to become a soldier in the army like his father and fight for our country. Instead Matthew had a different journey in life and that was to battle childhood cancer. Matthew refused to let cancer win, he kept a positive attitude and a beautiful bright smile on his face. Not allowing cancer to take over his love for life. Matthew has showed us all how life should be lived and that is to be kind and loving to one another and to ourselves. Never judge anyone and to always offer help to others. He would always say if we all can be kind in the world everything in life would be so much better.
Matthew had a great love for drawing, music, shopping, great marksman, gaming, traveling and most of all his family. He loved his tattoos, he drew all of them and each one has a meaning. Matthew was an amazing dad to his boys, No matter his struggle they always came first. He loved his boys with all his heart.
Matthew loved to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house. Organizing annual Toy Drives for Comer Children's Hospital. Raising money for Neuroblastoma research by attending run/walks and benefits.
Matthew is survived by mother and father Sylvia and Matthew Galvan Sr.; sister's Christina (Mark) Hardgraves, Nicole (William) Bagni, Justine N. Rodriguez and Cynthia (Oscar) Galvan; grandmother Theresa Gonzalez and a host of other family members and dear friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by brother Thaddeus Galvan; grandfather Albert Galvan, grandfather Alejandro R. Ayala, grandmother Esperanza Ayala, and aunt Ti Ti Laura.
The Galvan family would like to thank Unity Hospice, all his Doctors, Nurses and staff, in Childlife, EVS, Dietary at Comer Children's Hospital and Seattle Children's Hospital for all the love and care they gave to our Sonshine. You all meant the world to him and he was so very grateful to you.
It pains me to say, but my husband and I find some comfort that our boys are now together in heaven.
Matthew was a loving son, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He always put everyone before himself and loved unconditionally. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Traditionally, Floral arrangement are sent to the service. However, flowers are often left behind or die within a few days. Consequently, you may want to consider a funeral gift instead of flowers. One of the most common funeral gifts to give instead of flowers is monetary donation.
In Lieu of Flowers the family will be accepting Monetary Donations.
