

Melba was born August 2, 1921 in Madill, Oklahoma, to the late Arnold and Ruth (McKeehen) Campbell. Also preceding her in death are loving husband of 47 years, Richard Smith; son, Richard Smith; brother, Billy Campbell; sister, Bettye (nee Campbell) Lipman.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (James) Leahy and Paul (Joan) Smith; grandchildren, Sara (Bill) Boyle, Richard (Sunny) Smith, Heather (Keith) Leahy-Mack, Chris Smith, Shannon Leahy, Laura (Ryan) Leahy-Burkekemper, Collin (Alyssa) Smith, and Allison Smith; many great grandchildren.
Melba was a bookkeeper for many years at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond. She had retired and relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where she spent 30 plus years. She was a faithful and involved member of Saguaro Christian Church, in Tucson, where she enjoyed participating in a church quilting group, making quilts for newborns. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
