
Millie Postma of Hebron, IN, born May 25, 1949, died August 3, 2013. Millie was a 1967 graduate of Lake Central High School, St. John, IN and a graduate of Purdue University with Bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a bank teller at Bank of Lansing then went on to be a teacher and guidance counselor for Hanover Central School Systems in Cedar Lake, IN for 30 plus years. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Munster, IN currently a member of First Reformed Church in Demotte, IN. Millie was an avid quilter/ seamstress winning numerous awards for sewing from her 4-H years until recent times. She was a member of many sewing clubs and quilting guilds, was a member and long time president of Hanover Central (HOPE) Teachers Union. Millie leaves behind husband, Jim; two sons: Brian (Beth); granddaughters: Cailynn and Hailey; Dave (Lori); grandchildren: Zachary and Lilly; step grandchildren: Christopher, Kristen and Brianna. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark. She was friends to many including: Betsy Piper, Cheryl O'Conner, Judy Kooi, and numerous others. Millie was respected and loved for her quick wit, classic sense of style and love for her family. In lieu of flowers contributions to the St. Joseph Carmelite Home, East Chicago, IN. This was a cause very near and dear to her heart. She felt no child should ever feel unwanted or less than others. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 10, 2013; 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Ave. (1/2 mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN.
