

Norman was born May 9, 1929 in Oblong, Illinois to the late Basil and Clara (Lorance) White. Also preceding him in death are his brother, Donald L. White and new born baby daughter, Jeanne Kay White.
On October 30, 1953 he married Dorothy Hill, Mrs. Dorothy White survives. Also left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Linda Meyers and Karen Kuchvalek; son-in-law, Brent; grandchildren, Clare and Chad; sister, Marilyn Simon; nephew, Michael Simon; nieces, Donna Vandenbemden and Mary Logan.
Mr. White was a 1948 Hammond High Graduate, he then graduated with an electrical technology degree from Purdue Calumet in 1951. He retired after 40 years of faithful service at Inland Steel as "Stormin' Norman the Electrical Foreman". Norman honorably served in the United States Army as a MP and radio operator during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife are faithful members of Deep River Christian Church, and past member of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and treasurer. Norman was an avid collector of model trains and loved Clydesdale horses. He enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle, and dearly loved his family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 3-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Busch officiating.
