Ray is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janice Vandiver; his beloved children Lonnie Vandiver (Diane), Angel Robertson (Greg), and Joy Vandiver; his loving grandchildren Willie Robertson (Michell), Nichole Sincan, Stephanie Charbonneau (Michael), Allie Tinlin (Brian), Michelle Vandiver, Cole Vandiver and Caryss Vandiver; his cherished great grandsons Dane, Connor, Chanze, Nolan, Liam, Charlie, Merritt, James; his sister Donna Halon (Jeff), his sister in law Eva Groves (Jim), his dear friends of 40 years Rich and Jaquie Rajski, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Estelle Vandiver; his grandson Matthew Sincan.
Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and dear friend. He enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he could. He enjoyed making memories every weekend for 37 years at the "Lake Place" with family and friends.
Ray retired from Teamster Local 142 after 25 years of service. He and his wife, Janice, were also proud owners/operators of two White Hen Pantries of 14 years.
One of the proudest moments was coaching his daughter Joy's softball team. Ray coached and led the Hessville Senior Girls Softball Team to win the Indiana State Championship in 1982.
A public visitation for Ray will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. Following the public visitation will be a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
