Rolando A. Lopez

Rolando A. Lopez, age 72, of Crown Point, formerly of Hammond, passed away at home on February 22, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Mercedes; three children: Vincent (Marla) Lopez, Tony(Pam Williams) Lopez, Michelle(Bob) Miranda; eight grandchildren: Robert, Katreena, Vennessa, Emily, Robert, Jr., Adrian, Bianca, and Michael; eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Beatrice Mendoza, Maria Luisa Rositas, and Josephine Palacios; two brothers-in-law: Manuel and Joseph; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Augustina Lopez; three brothers: Felix Lopez, Jose Francisco Lopez, and Jesus Lopez; and four sisters: Cecelia Caballero, Maria Elias, Anna Maria Gomez, and Amelia Tellez. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, Indiana, with Rev. Ted Mauch, officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2-5 PM and 6-8 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Lopez was retired from Inland Steel after 44 years of service. He enjoyed working around the house and was an avid White Sox fan.
