Ronald Eugene Pacheco

Ronald Eugene Pacheco, age 80, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Ronald was born in East Chicago, IN, and spent his life creating lasting memories with those who loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Victoria; sons, Ronald V. (Joyce), Dorian (Sari), Matthew, and Keith; daughter-in-law, Chasity; and six cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph; and his parents, Basil and Martha Pacheco.

Ronald retired from Inland Steel after 28 years of dedicated service. He was also a proud member of the Army Reserves for six years. His lifelong love of service was reflected in his achievements as an Eagle Scout and a member of Sea Scouts. Ronald was also an active precinct committeeman in East Chicago in the 1980's and the 1990's.

In his spare time, Ronald enjoyed solving puzzles with his wife and making beautiful latch hook rugs. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Cubs, sharing his passion for sports with those closest to him.He was also an avid coin collector whose interest began in childhood, with a deep passion for Civil War history, the history of Hitler, and World War II.

A visitation to honor Ronald’s life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307, on January 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Cremation will follow.

Ronald will be remembered for his loving spirit, devotion to family, and his many contributions to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
