I will remember leaving early for work and so often seeing Tim leave at the same time.  Often in the evening on his way home he would stop to chat and we would talk about construction, grandkids, and life in general.  Tim always impressed me as being a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to talk with,  I would often see him with the grandkids playing ball or just having fun and really enjoying having them around.  A great grandfather and I'm sure a great Dad.  He will be missed by all of his family, his friends, and his coworkers!

Brittany & Kyle,

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Kyle’s dad. Will be thinking of you both and sending prayers your way and to Kyle’s family. Kyle’s dad sounded like an amazing person and those memories with him will be cherished. 

My favorite memory of Tim was when we were golfing a few years back. Tim was reading the green to putt from easily 30+ feet back. Kyle and I thought he was reading it completely backwards. The amount of trash talk we were giving him was ridiculous. He goes ahead with his putt, which Kyle and I were convinced was going to break the wrong way. Lo and behold, Tim nails the putt with a very late break that I wouldn’t have believed was possible if I hadn’t seen it firsthand. Needless to say, he dished out the trash talk right back. We couldn’t stop laughing. I still randomly think back on that day and laugh. That’s just one of my favorite moments with Tim. He will truly be missed. 

I’m sorry I can’t share a hand written message or other requests by you. 
I grew up across the street from Kap. As grade schoolers and high school friends I believe that another guy nicknamed Carp and myself (Earl J.) were soul brothers. We shared so much. It pains me to have gotten this information today but also made me look back at the good times,the bad, and all the love shared. I’ll miss you Kap and hopefully will see you soon. 

I had the pleasure of working with Tim for 10 years at Gariup. Whenever he would come in my office I would say “ Timmay!  How are you?”  And he would ALWAYS say “Just living the dream Kel, just living the dream”.   When you work with someone you don’t always know their life outside of work.  After viewing the pictures I can see exactly how his life was away from work……. Full of love for his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Although I didn’t know for sure, I never had a doubt!  He was one of the “good one’s” and I am better for having known him!

I pray that you, his family can find peace as he lives on in all the wonderful memories you carry of him.

Prayers and condolences from the Laird Family.  

I was fortunate to have been a neighbor of the Kapitan’s while I lived in St. John. What a great neighborhood! We would gather in driveways and share a beer or two and just enjoy each other’s company. I will never forget Tim coming to my rescue when I decided to do a landscape project with the help of a teenager that I hired. Way over my head! Tim observes us trying to dig up grass, comes over and offers to rent a sod cutter and help us get the job done. Well, he doesn’t just help, he does it! Do you know how heavy a rolled up length of sod is to move? This man was strong!! More than that, he was giving and caring and a joyful person you liked to be around. I will forever be grateful to have known him. RIP Tim.

Teri and family.  We are so very sorry to hear of this unbelievable loss.  Tim was such a great guy. As a coach to our boy and a friend to us he meant so much.  We cherish the memory of those days spent out at the baseball field with you guys and all the boys.  So glad we ran into him recently and had a chance to catch up a bit.  Lean on your family and friend and the memories you have of Tim.  If we can do anything you need only reach out.

I've known Kap for over 40 yrs. The world lost an outstanding human being. His personality,character and integrity were second to none. And his kids and wife are the same. If you were fortunate enough to call him friend you were a better person for it. I can say 100% that I'm a better person because Kap was my friend . I will miss him tremendously. We are shocked to hear about Tim. Our son Adam and Kyle Kap have been very close friends for a long time. We have had lots of fun together watching our kids grow up and become adults. Tim and I coached baseball together and it was a blast. If there were more Tim's in the world what a wonderful world it would be. I have worked with Tim over the past years on many projects throughout the region. We worked on the rebuilding of the Marquette Pavilion in Gary and Block Stadium in East Chicago. We enjoyed each others company on the job and when we would see each other in the yard/office. Tim was 2 years older then I, and we would greet each other with a “hey old man, how much longer are you going to work “. We would laugh and answer with a shrug or some kind of future time frame , claiming “a couple more years I guess”. I’m going to miss those meetings, and of course Tim himself. He could always make you feel better whenever you would be around him. I’m certain the  Kapitan family will miss him even more than words can say. My condolences to Tim’s entire family. God bless you old friend.

So sorry to hear of the family's loss of Tim.  We grew up just down the street and have many fond memories of all of us kids playing together in the neighborhood.  Such a wonderful family, who made all of us in the Kroupa family feel like family.  Certainly Tim's is another Soul in Heaven.

I've been working for Gariup for 6.5 years in the office. You would know when Tim got in the office - his voice carried throughout the office. Tim would always stop by my office just to say Hi. Tim's 3 favorite things to talk about was family, grandkids, and his faith. Tim will be greatly missed.
