Tim was the loving husband for 41 years to Theresa "Terry" Kapitan; heroic father to Daniel (Alexa) Kapitan, Katherine (Andrew) Bultema, and Kyle (Brittany) Kapitan; proud papa to Reid, Owen, Elli, Deklan, Finley, Cy and Lennix; compassionate son to the late Samuel and Dolores Kapitan; devoted son-in-law to Gerry and Mary Scheub; cherished brother to Mike (Teri) Kapitan, Jim (Kari) Kapitan, Patricia (Kirk) Smith, and Tom (Theresa) Kapitan; exceptional brother-in-law to Tom Scheub, Tim (Jackie) Scheub, Todd (Robyn) Scheub, and Tony (Karrie) Scheub; greatest uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Tim was a proud member of the Local #21 Union Bricklayers. He was a skilled mason and loyal employee in the construction industry, ending his career as a Superintendent at Gariup Construction. He spent years as an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Schererville, IN, but most recently joined the parish of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Crown Point, IN. He was an esteemed coach to not only his own three children, but many other young athletes. A true sports connoisseur, Tim held a deep appreciation for his community, selflessly giving of his time and leaving a significant impact on all whom he encountered. Happiest with a tool in hand and an eager student by his side, Tim was always willing to mentor anyone willing to learn. Die-hard Bears fan, he enjoyed golfing with his sons, vacationing with his wife, and a cold beer and good conversation with his friends.
His family takes comfort in knowing that his faithful heart has brought him to eternal Glory with the Lord.
