Violet "Ruth" Austin

Violet "Ruth" Austin, age 93 of Saint John, Indiana passed away peacefully June 29, 2018 at Franciscan in Dyer with her loving family at her side. Ruth was born February 27, 1925 in Richmond, IN to the late Ira and Stella Sherrow. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Steve, Stan, Paul, and Donald Sherrow. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 72 years, Carroll Austin; children, Emily (Robert) Wesselhoft and Julie (Burnes) Barney; 9 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Howard Sherrow. Ruth was a bookkeeper for her the family's insurance business for many years. She adored her children and grandchildren, and spending time with them. Ruth was a very competitive card player. She was a friend to many, great listener with wise advise. Visitation will be at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 4-7 pm.
