

Rev. William Reigel, age 77, of Chesterton, Indiana and formerly of Kane, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2017. He was a graduate of Kane High School and Valley Forge Christian College and was an ordained Minister in the Assemblies of God fellowship. He pastored churches in Pennsylvania and Indiana and served on staff at a church in Delaware. He founded Heritage Christian School in Indiana and was principal of Homewood Christian Academy in Illinois. One of his primary interests was Missionary work, which took him to El Salvador and Peru and the projects of Chicago. The churches he pastored received many awards from the Assemblies of God fellowship for Missionary giving. After his retirement he served as Senior Adult Pastor in Portage, Indiana. Following that he served as interim pastor and guest speaker for churches in Indiana and Illinois. After several years of searching for answers to his deteriorating health, he was diagnosed with ALS at Mayo Clinic. He then retired from active ministry, choosing to write a book called, "A Tangible GPS - 365 Daily Devotions". Up until three weeks before his passing, he continued to post short articles on Facebook, using the internet as his pulpit. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Cleone (Mathys) and Children; Bonnie (Cary) Banka, Tom (Becky) Reigel, Jim Reigel, Jon (Wendy) Reigel and Christine (Mike) Phipps; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Dan, Gary, Dennis and Keith, 1 sister, Barb (Bill) Kilmer, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Wilson Reigel, one brother, Ron, and two premature grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4-8pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46307), and again on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn with Rev Phil Willingham of Heartland Christian Center and Rev.
