Anne Lee Weyrauch passed through death to gain her peace on March 12, 2025, as a result of an acute stroke. A true servant of the Lord Jesus, she always gave of herself to first serve others without judgement. Our world has lost a beautiful and talented artist, singer, dancer, interior decorator, and jewelry maker.
Anne was born in the Philippine Islands just prior to the start of World War II. Her father was a US Army soldier who was captured by the Japanese and spent three years as a prisoner of war. Anne stayed with her mother, Bernadette, and her family on the island of Luzon, where she spent much time growing up with aunts and many cousins. Many knew her then as Annie. Anne grew up speaking four languages and remained fluent in English and Tagalog until her death. After the war ended, and her father was released from captivity, he returned to the United States. Her mother was afraid to move to the U.S. and they divorced. Anne and her mother remained in the Philippines. Even though her father remarried, he and his new family maintained continual contact with Anne. While attending the university school (high school) in the Philippines, she met and married Burton Gerald (Jerry) Stiteler and began life as a Navy wife with assignments across the U.S., the Philippines, and Bermuda. Their marriage produced three highly accomplished children: Laura (Pomona College), an educator; Craig (Texas A&M), an architect, and Elena (UCLA), an actress. Deployments and life as a single mom for months at a time contributed to the end of the marriage, and Jerry & Anne divorced in 1978. Anne earned her associates degree in design between all the moves and was active in the Officer’s Wives Club and several charities. Regardless of where the family was stationed, Anne always found a Catholic Church nearby and was a faithful and active parishioner no matter the location. While the children were growing up Anne continued to be active and involved herself in art & sports. She was a proficient tennis player, bowler and became quite a good golfer. Anne’s mother was an accomplished dancer, and Anne loved dancing from an early age. Her love for dancing and good music has been passed to her children, grandchildren and now her great granddaughters.
Anne’s mother had two more children in the Philippines, (Clarence & Yvonne) and Anne maintained close contact with them throughout the years.
While in California, Anne obtained her real estate license and she later married James Brigham, a banker in Poway, CA. Jim was a widower with three children, (Bobby, Brenda & Mark) whom Anne loved as her own. Both she and Jim were avid golfers, and his tournament wins led them to several trips abroad.
After Jim retired, they moved to Arizona, and eventually settled in Round Rock, TX where she became active with the Newcomers Club, the Women’s Assistance League, and Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church. Jim’s serious illness thrust Anne into a primary caregiver role for nine years until Jim’s death in 2006.
In 2011, Anne attended a seminar arranged by her financial advisor. The presenter was Paul T. (Pete) Weyrauch a retired Army officer and educator, and a widower with two adult children. Pete had developed and presented the “Survivor Handbook – A Gift to Your Family.” They began to exchange emails that led to a relationship. They were married in 2014, and the two families became one. Anne and Pete enjoyed travel to Europe, Australia, and around the US visiting extended family and attending military reunions from Pete’s first assignment in Germany.
In 2017, they moved to Dallas to live at Highland Springs, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Anne immediately became active in the Art Club, Line Dancers, Chorus, Bridge and Canasta groups, visitation groups, and more. She was a popular member of a highly active senior community. She and Pete continued to travel until COVID turned the world upside down. One of the highlights of Anne’s life was a church choir trip to Rome and Assisi where the choir Anne was a member of gave four performances, and Anne personally shook the hand of Pope Francis. The pope also blessed some rosaries which she treasured.
Anne had a smile that lit up the room! She was gracious and loving, and her smile and sparkling eyes drew everyone in. More than anything, Anne loved her three children, six grandchildren by birth (with blended families, we added twelve more grandchildren), and a total of 26 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
Anne is predeceased by her father, James Edward Larson; mother, Bernadette Alicante; and half-sister, Kay Lowder. Anne touched many lives and was involved in all of her family’s lives. She leaves behind an incredible legacy.
Anne is survived by her spouse Paul T. (Pete) Weyrauch. Anne is also survived by her children: Laura & Paul Rosell, Elbert, CO; Craig & Leslie Stiteler of Houston, TX; Elena & Dave Wohl, Hermosa Beach, CA; Mark & Laurie Brigham, Laguna Beach, CA; Brenda Winchell, Calabasas, CA; Julie & Scott Fowler, Dallas, TX; and Paul C. & Elizabeth Weyrauch, Alexandria, VA.
