Aura Maria was born on May 5,1937 in San Pedro de Lovago, Chontales, a vibrant dairy farming town in central Nicaragua. She was the daughter of Davis Matus and Reynalda Matus, who were married for over 50 years.
She married her beloved husband Antonio Celis, and together they had two daughters: Deyanira and Diana. They also adopted Marlon Celis and Carlos Matus, raising them as sons alongside their daughters.
Aura Maria Matus de Celis made profound contributions to her community, especially through her spiritual leadership and acts of compassion:
As a pastor’s wife for 50 years, Aura Maria was a guiding light in her church. She and her husband served as spiritual leaders, offering counsel, prayer, and support to their congregation. Her faith was central to her life, and she lived by the teachings of the Bible, particularly Matthew 25:35–36, which emphasizes caring for others in need.
Aura Maria opened her home to those who needed a place to stay. This act of generosity extended beyond family, reflecting her belief in welcoming strangers and helping the vulnerable.
She embodied Christian values through feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and visiting the imprisoned, as referenced in the scripture quoted in her obituary. These weren’t just beliefs—she lived them daily.
Matthew 25:35–36: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave something to drink, I was stranger and you invite me, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
By adopting Marlon Celis and Carlos Matus, she expanded her family and provided love and guidance, treating them as her own children. This act of inclusion and mentorship had a lasting impact on their lives.
She left her 2 daughters Deyanira Harris and Diana Cordon, as well as Marlos Celis and Carlos Matus. Also her grandchildren’s Gaby Love, Victoria Cordon, Joseph Harris, Max Harris, Mario Cordon, and Lauren Harris.

Su bondad también se vio reflejada en el noble gesto de adoptar a Marlon y Carlos a quienes formaron como hijos, inculcando los valores cristianos que hasta el día de hoy se ve reflejando en las nuevas generaciones.
