

Ben King was born June 27, 1928 and passed away February 28, 2015. He was the fourth son of Verdie and Leon King of Screven, Georgia. He was gifted with great intelligence and served as valedictorian of his class in high school. He completed his college degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
His occupation was piloting airplanes first for the Navy where he earned the rank of captain and then with American Airlines with whom he flew from 1952-1988. He had two highlights in his working years. He was invited to serve on the Navy’s National Policy Board and he was elected to be the copilot on the campaign flights for Hubert Humphrey.
Ben was an active member of Canyon Creek Presbyterian church where he was an ordained deacon and elder and a choir member. His favorite charity was Friendship House in Garland where he served several years in many ways helping people in need.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Betty R. King and 3 of his 4 children, daughter Kathryn King Kremer, son Benjamin Lee King, and daughter Virginia King Tinney also mourning his love one 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and numerous friends around the metroplex and at their home Highland Springs.
Interment will be March 7th at Restland Cemetery followed by a 3:30 p.m. memorial service at Canyon Creek Presbyterian church located at 3901 North Star Rd. in Richardson, 75082.
