Donna Leigh Jackson Stowers

Our beautiful and loving Donna Leigh Jackson Stowers passed away at the age of 63 on July 30, 2022. She passed peacefully surrounded by family after enduring a long courageous battle with COPD. Donna was born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1958 to Jack and Elaine Jackson along with her twin sister, Deborah. Donna was a free spirit who loved gospel, country and classic rock music, art, and drawing. She spent hours dreaming up ideas for her next creative project. She loved collecting recipes, cooking, General Hospital, flowers, puzzles and word games, beautiful scenery, animals, sunflowers, flying pigs, flamingos, and her mourning doves. She loved life! Most of all, she had unwavering and unconditional love for her family and close friends.

Although she was mobility impaired in midlife and bed bound for almost two years, Donna adapted to these circumstances with a positive outlook and grace. She rarely complained and often provided love, levity, and support to others despite her own declining health. Donna was intelligent, or “street smart” as she described it. The truth is she had an incredible memory – one to be reckoned with during family game night! She loved technology and quickly learned how to use the computer and smart phone to connect with people, to entertain, and to maintain her independence. She spent many hours taking pictures, looking at pictures of family, playing computer games, selecting just the right gifts to order, sending a text or card, and calling to chat or check on someone. She cherished those Facetime visits. Donna was always the first one to wish people happy birthday or happy anniversary. With a sweet smile and sparkling eyes that belied a mischievous nature, Donna always approached life with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh.

She is tremendously loved, and her gentle loving spirit will be greatly missed. She deeply loved her family. Donna is survived by parents Jack and Elaine Jackson, sister Deborah Jackson, brother Brent Jackson and wife Kerri Pritchard Jackson, daughter Shannaray Stowers Snell and husband Tommy Snell, son Brian Stowers, daughter Jenifer Stowers Wilshire and husband David Wilshire, and son Jeffrey Jackson and wife Nichole Renshaw Jackson. She is survived by her nine grandchildren Starr Escobar, Bailey Stowers, Kira Wilshire, Elizabeth Wilshire, Brayden Stowers, Jade Jackson, Stephen Wilshire, Jordyn Jackson and Danvis Wilshire. She is survived by her niece McKenzie Jackson and fiancé Garrett Wallace, niece Lexi Jackson, and great nephew Emerson Acosta.
