

He was the first child born to Elias Ray and Ramona June (Coakley) Nunley. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Lancaster. The family moved from Lancaster, Ohio to Maryland Park, Maryland in 1961. Elias graduated from Central Senior High School in Seat Pleasant and worked with his Father Elias Sr. at Giant Food before becoming a District of Columbia Police Officer. He married his High School sweetheart Deborah Jones in 1968 and resided in Severn, Maryland until moving to Waysons Corner, Maryland. They shared two children, David Gene and Tracey Lynn.
Elias then found himself in California and eventually met Gloria. Elias and Gloria moved to Dallas, Texas where the two were married. There were two sons from this union, Christian Cody and Matthew Thomas. Elias was a well-respected licensed Commercial Real Estate Broker in and around the Dallas area. Katherine de Montreve later entered his life while living in Texas. The couple had two daughters, Alixandria Kayla Elizabeth, and Olivia Fe. Elias, Katherine, and their two young daughters lived in Dallas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and then California until her death on February 22nd, 2002. Elias returned to the Dallas area in 2009 and worked in commercial real estate until his unexpected death on Sunday, February 25th, 2024.
From the streets of D.C. to the Big Apple for New Year’s Eve, the deserts of Africa, the rainforests in Costa Rica, the rapids in Taos, the ocean in California, and the skyline of Dallas. He would tell you the place he called home was “The Big D” and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, skeet shooting, and making everyone around him happy and filled with laughter. Eli loved his Dallas Cowboys!
He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Katherine, Parents, Grandparents, and brother-in-law Dwayne. Elias leaves behind his sons David, Christian, and Matthew (Cecily), and daughters Tracey (Pete), Alixandria (Aaron), and Olivia. Grandchildren Courtney (Ryan), Rachael, Ava, Ella, Greyson, Harrison, Lyla, Lily, and Matthew, and Great Grandson Colton. He will be greatly missed by his brother Damian, sisters Kathie, Zandra (Jeff), Trina (Kent), and Marcia (Maurice) along with a host of beloved relatives and friends.
