Frederick Michael Gifford

A US Army veteran stationed at the Pentagon during Vietnam and proud college graduate of Syracuse University, Fred spent the majority of his career in healthcare benefits claims working for companies such as Walmart and Control Data.

Fred was married to his Liverpool, NY high school sweetheart, Ellen for 55 years before her sudden passing in 2021. They raised their two boys in Plano, Texas before moving to Northwest Arkansas thirty plus years ago. Fred always considered wherever they lived “God’s Country!”

Fred to immediate and extended family and “Giff” to friends and co-workers loved reading, watching sports, and playing poker and golf with his buddies. He even secured a hole-in-one on one of Bella Vista’s courses.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ellen. He is survived by his two sons, Jed Gifford (Cherie) and Josh Gifford (Jo) and “Gramps” to three grandchildren: Avery, Julie and Jacob.

Additional extended family include his older sister Judy Haven, her two sons (Eric and Gary), niece and nephew (Susan and Greg) from Judy’s twin sister June Howard, Ellen’s older sister, Janet Garnjost and her two daughters (Alison and Valerie).
