He was born on January 29, 1939, in Independence, Kansas. Bill, as he was called, was a very giving person who believed in giving back to his community. He dedicated his time as the Coordinator of Delivery for PUSH (People United Serving Humanity), Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity alumni, the JC's in Shreveport, and the Boy Scouts of America. Bill was an Eagle Scout and devoted over 30 years to the organization, first as a scout and later as a Scout Master. He was a natural teacher and leader, always eager to share his knowledge with anyone who would listen.
Bill served in the Army as a Military Police (MP) from 1962 to 1964. He was stationed overseas during his service and continued as a Reserve for an additional six years. After his military service, Bill pursued a career as a Safety Engineer, working for Aetna Insurance for 10 years before moving to Kemper and later to Marsh McClelland Agency. The family relocated several times, living in Louisiana, Connecticut, and Dallas, Texas, where Bill worked at the University of Texas Southwest Medical School. He retired after many years of dedicated service. Bill is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Patty) Stancliff daughters-in-law Carrie and Susan, and his cherished grandchildren Jessica, Meghan, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his sons, Greg and Jason.
Bill graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plano. In his free time, Bill enjoyed Scouts, camping, travel, home, and auto repairs, as well as mentoring and volunteering.
