He was a bright, cheerful, intelligent child who became a compassionate man with an irrepressible sense of humor who brought pleasure to his family and to countless friends.
Grady’s passion for cars and music led him in his youth to be the drummer in a rock band and as an adult to a career in automotive repair, including an honors-winning early period at Crest Cadillac and eventually owning his own business for the last fifteen years of his life.
Grady met and fell in love with Leah Bogle when they were still teenagers. They married in 1991 and became the parents of Taylor, now 21, and Jayden, who just had his 11th birthday April 23rd.
Once a parent, Grady’s children became his true passion and he proved to be a father adored by his children. He devoted considerable time to learning more about his religion and became a speaker sought after for his comforting voice and keen insight. Grady’s curiosity and dedication to improving his knowledge, not only of the automotive world, but also personal computers, coupled with his willingness to help a friend whenever needed put him in a special place in the hearts of his friends.
Facebook seemed to overflow with concerns when his illness became known, expressions of grief when he died, and the loving remembrances of a life happily shared with others.
Grady is survived by his daughter Taylor and son Jayden, loving former wife Leah Turner, mother Marian Leibensperger and husband Skip, father Doug Turner and wife Ann, stepsisters Christie Byrom (husband Mike), Amy Elmore, and Kim Thompson, stepbrother Jon Leibensperger (wife Cathy), and those countless friends and family. He is reunited with his sister Amy, who died in 2007. We will go on with a part of our lives brighter for having known him and loved him and knowing that he loved us.
In keeping with Grady’s thoughts on best use of our resources, the family suggests that any donations be directed not towards flowers, but to your favorite charitable or other organization that is focused on helping others. Feed My Starving Children (http://www.fmsc.org/), Involved for Life Pregnancy Center of Dallas (http://getinvolvedforlife.com), and Real Options for Women of Frisco (http://www.realoptionsforwomen.com/) are all consistent with Grady’s values.
