He earned a degree from the Texas Christian University School of Business and held a master’s degree in finance and management. He spent the first ten years of his career with CIGNA in Fort Worth, then served as Branch Manager in San Antonio. In 1981, he transferred to Kansas City, Missouri, and later moved to Dallas in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and W.D. Lasater, and his brother, Tom.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Lasater; two children, Kellye Bos and husband Kai, and son Aaron Lasater; and three grandchildren, Olivia Bos, Dayleigh Bos, and Sapphiria Cecala. He is also survived by his niece Meggin, and cousins Linda, Ed, Roger, and Andy.
Services for James will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Christ Church Plano.
