Early childhood her parents moved to the Texas Panhandle and lived the majority of her life in Lockney, Texas. Jimmie attended Lockney High School. in 1953 Jimmie married William Phineas Holmes (Sonny) and lived on his family farm for the first few years then moving to Amarillo followed by a short time in Lubbock. Jimmie divorced Sonny, moved home, and made Lockney her true home where she raised her family. In 1963 Jimmie met and married W. C. Whitlock who was lovingly called Bill. Jimmie served her community and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Lockney. She also was an active member of various organizations: The Rainbows, Eastern Star, and the Rebekah's. Jimmie also enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, quilting, singing, traveling, dancing and music of all genres.
Jimmie attended Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas and graduated with a degree in Food and Nutrition. Jimmie worked for the Lockney ISD as the head dietician for all the school in Lockney. She retired from the Lockney Independent School District after 35 years of service. It was the perfect job for Jimmie as she was loved by the students, her workers and teachers. From work, Jimmie was able to keep an eye on her children taking them to school and back home in the afternoons and if they got into trouble at school she would always know before getting into the car to go home. Being off the holidays and summers gave the family plenty of time to travel and to spend time together.
Jimmie was always on the go and not the type to sit at home, therefore, traveling was always her number one source of adventure and ways to socialize. Bill would travel with her to the mountains and/or spend time with family and friends. After 48 years of marriage in September of 2011 Bill Whitlock passed away. After spending six months in Lockney living close to daughter Tonjua and her husband Steve, Jimmie moved to Snyder, Texas in 2012 where her daughter Rhonda and husband Richard lived. In Snyder she became active in the Senior Citizens group and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jimmie met a dear friend, Charles Wilson, and they became inseparable enjoying each other's company going to Senior Citizens every day, meeting new friends, attending High School reunions, church, visiting family/friends short distances and driving to the mountains of New Mexico.
In 2016 Jimmie moved to Dallas and lived with son, Phineas Holmes and wife Terry after Charles became ill. Jimmie did not stop socializing as she started attending Encore Senior Center while Phin and Terry worked. Jimmie was well known for wearing her cowboy boos and also for her love of dancing. As always, Jimmie made new friends where she lived and was loved by many. After a serious fall in June 2018 Jimmie moved into SilverMark Assisted Living in Plano. There she met more friends and loved the staff who cared for her. She would continue to dance and sing and the social director made certain that Jimmie had music in her life. Somebody said "Jimmie is a spunky lady, who loves life and no could stop her from living it the best she could."
