Lois was born Lois Sarah Miller in Chicago, Illinois on June 10, 1926, growing up mostly in Chicago. After a few years in San Francisco and her high school graduation, she returned to Chicago as her high school sweetheart, Martin Lewis Daneman prepared for service in the U.S. Army. Lois volunteered with the USO, and eventually worked as a bookkeeper at the original Stanley Korshak in Chicago. She and Marty married on August 25, 1945, after he returned from serving in World War II in Italy.
After a few years in Chicago, Lois and Marty, and first son Philip then moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area for 14 years where three more boys were added to the family. The family, now having grown to four sons, Philip, Neal, Scott, and Michael, moved to Dallas, Texas in 1966.
After decades of supporting Marty in his career in the Apparel industry, carpools and schools, Lois worked for many years as a Bookkeeper at Lakewood Country Club, The JCC-Jewish Community Center, and her favorite, Manhattan Cleaners, working with close friends.
She served in many Jewish organizations as well as being a member of Congregation Shearith Israel.
She and Marty were blessed with decades of exploring the world together with family and more often. with many lifelong friends.
Lois (Mom, Grandma, Aunt Lois) loved her family most of all and relished in hosting family dinners and holiday celebrations, providing a wonderful space for family and friends to gather and sample all the various specialties - baked or cooked. Mandel Bread, Challah, Brisket, Chicken soup with matzo balls, of course, all of which will bring a smile to any lucky family, friend or even a stranger who was blessed with having these tasty treats over the years.
In addition to her many many blessings throughout her life, Mom was a cancer survivor of more than 50 years.
Mom enjoyed years of duplicate bridge and mahjong , followed all sports including tennis, golf, baseball, and football, and was a lover of the arts. She especially loved opera, classical music, and the big bands and both she and Marty attended many concerts, events, and balloon festivals, especially in their years in Plano.
They supported and were involved with various organizations throughout their lives including supporting and sharing the legacy of The 10th Mountain Division, Inc., The Dallas Opera, The Dallas Symphony, The Plano Symphony, The Boy Scouts of America, and always supporting the many, many fundraisers of the grands, and the great grands.
Mom enjoyed her family, her music and sports and especially being at home until her passing. We love you Mom , and you will be missed by all.
