Lorraine (Hochstetter) Miller born in Chicago, Illinois on October 12, 1925 passed away on December 2, 2016 at age 91 in Dallas, Texas. Preceding her in death are her parents Casper and Agnes (Hennesy) Hochstetter, siblings Hubert Hochstetter, Harold Hochstetter, Dorothy (Hochstetter) Guinnane, Thomas Hochstetter, husband of 54 years William John Miller, son Peter Scott Miller and grandson Allen Reding. She is survived by her sister Irene (Hochstetter) Barry, children Mary Jo (Miller) Reding, William Miller, Patrice (Miller) Haynes, and Candace (Miller) Rooney, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lorraine is a 1944 graduate of Alvernia High School and earned an associate’s degree in Fashion design from the College of DuPage. She married William Miller, civil engineer and architect, on August 21, 1948. She was a very active member of Divine Infant Church in Westchester and St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale. She spent countless hours of service to her church and community volunteering at Cook County Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels for 28 years, provided support for grieving families, and performed countless other random acts of charity and kindness without any fanfare or acknowledgement.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, well read, staunchly opinionated, out spoken, elegant, a competitive bridge player, avid golfer, an enthusiastic tennis player, talented dress designer and seamstress and passionate servant to those in need. She left an incredible legacy and the world is a better place because she lived.
Those wishing to celebrate the life of this amazing woman, please wear some red (her favorite color) and attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on January 7, 2017 at 10 am in St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Hinsdale, IL, with visitation at the church at 9 am. Interment will immediately follow in Glen Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers donations, those wishing to honor her memory can support the Meals on Wheels organization. http://www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org.
